Help Your Peers In Business To Help You!

A feature that is totally unique to HSM is the sub-account. Sub-accounts allow you to, in essence, "lend" your HSM to other businesses who need a high-quality brand-building and client-relationship tool -- like your HSM. In exchange for "borrowing" your HSM, sub-account holders help you to put your name in front of their clients. With sub-accounts, you can literally create an army of people who can help you to get your name out to more homeowners, buyers, and sellers more quickly and efficiently!

Here's how it works. When you signed-up for Home Savvy, you became a Primary Account Holder. This entitles you to use a self-branded version of HSM for your own business as a brand-building and client-relationship tool. As a Primary Account Holder, you are also entitled to special features that allow you to further-enhance your HSM.

Even with all of the great enhancement features offered with your HSM account, your reach is still limited by the size of your contacts list (if emailing), the number of visitors you have to your corporate Website (if linking), and your marketing budget (if advertising). To compensate, you can offer other businesses, that serve the same markets you serve, an opportunity to use a modified version of your HSM which includes all of the great "content" without any of the enhancement features. More importantly, you can offer this as a fully-branded version of HSM so your business associates can feel confident and proud about distributing their HSM to their market (and not feel like they are marketing you for free).

Of course, sub-account holders don't get their own HSM account. Instead, an account is created for them within your primary account. Here are the differences between your primary account and a sub-account:

  • Sub-account URLs include your sub-domain. For example: http://yoursubdomain.homesavvymagazine.com/01_subaccount

  • Sub-accounts do not have ADMIN access.

  • Sub-accounts do not have access to their own Handshake or News pages, but they do have access to one page editor for their own Bio page.

  • Sub-accounts do not have any control over super-buttons. Only two super-buttons appear on their pages (instead of five). One button links to their Bio page and the other can link either to your Handshake page or your Bio page.

  • Three of the sub-account holder's super-buttons are replace by a block ad which will typically be occupied by an ad for your company, but you can also grant this space to the sub-account holder.

In short, a sub-account holder only receives a "lite" version of your HSM, but it is a well-branded version, nonetheless.

Process for Setting Up Sub-Accounts

Your HSM eZine account comes with five sub-accounts. When you acquire a new sub-account holder, we need to to do the following:

  • add their Panel Ad graphic;
  • add a Block Ad graphic (yours or theirs);
  • add a Title Banner graphic (ours, yours, or theirs);
  • add their Headshot graphic;
  • determine if they are going use the Home Savvy eMagazine title banner or your customized banner (if you've customized your title banner);
  • set up the sub-account's username and password for Bio editor access; and
  • modify personalized information to finalize set-up

This process typically takes 12 to 48 hours to complete depending on our volume of business and whether or not we are designing the graphics for the sub-account or if they are providing graphics. If you or your sub-account are providing graphics to us, then please use the following mechanicals:

  • Panel Ad (for the sub-account) is strictly 320px Wide by 320px Tall, JPEG (.jpg file)
  • Block Ad (for you or the sub-account) is strictly 200px Wide by 168px Tall, JPEG (.jpg file)
  • Title Banner (our generic, your custom, or sub-account's custom) is strictly 820px Wide by 104px Tall, JPEG (.jpg file)
  • Headshot (for the sub-account) should be strictly no wider than 1168px Wide, JPEG (.jpg file)

Graphics and Customization Fees For Sub-Accounts

You need to decide who will ultimately be responsible for developing the sub-account's graphics. You may provide the above mechanicals to the sub-account holder and wait for them to provide you with their graphics. You may also design the graphics for them, or you can hire somebody to do it. Lastly, you can utilize our design service to develop their graphics for them for a nominal fee.

If you or your sub-account holders provide us with the necessary graphics, and assuming they are properly sized and formatted, we will load them into the sub-accounts free of charge. If you require our design services, we charge $45 fee to design the sub-account's panel ad and one block ad (so decide if the block ad space belongs to you or them).

Though we strongly recommend that your sub-account holders either use the standard Home Savvy eMagazine title banner or your custom title banner (for more-consistent branding), they do have the option of having their own customized title banner for a $45 design fee regardless of the complexity of the design.

Lastly, your sub-accounts can have their own color themes (based on our standard inventory of themes). All sub-accounts come in our standard "Putty" color theme (as of 02/22/08).
